INTRODUCTION

Non toxic cement bone

PolymerExpert has developed a new non toxic radical polymerization initiator for acrylic bone cements used in prostheses. Currently, DMPT (dimethylparatoluidine ,a suspected carcinogen) is used to accelerate the cure time of orthopaedic cements to less than 15 minutes. However, DMPT is capable of migrating over the time in the human body. PolymerExperts engineers have developed high molecular molecules with similar activation properties as those of DMPT. These molecules remain confined inside of the cement without any risk of migration in the human body.

ExpertBone polymers are a thousand times less toxic than the conventional bone cements at the time of the use. Furthermore, ExpertBone results in a colour change in the final product, ensuring a shorter curing time of the cement and making it easier for surgeons to distinguish the cement from the bone or joint being worked on.
